Job Summary
To be the first point of contact for all patient enquires, and to treat patients at all times with warmth, dignity, respect and efficiency telephone.
Main Duties
- To work in the reception area welcoming patients to the practice, treating them courteously, with dignity and respect at all times.
- To enable patients to access health care, directing them to appointments with appropriate members of the practice team, or outside services
- Booking, changing and cancelling appointments in person or over the telephone
- Answering patient’s general queries
- Taking telephone calls and messages, liaising with clinical and administrative staff, hospitals etc
- Receiving and accurately recording requests for home visits
- Tidying waiting and reception areas before and after surgery
- Maintaining reception standards
- Other duties relevant to reception as required
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Excellent communications skills
- Accuracy in keyboard and computer skills
- Working knowledge of Emis, Docman and AccuRx
- Previous experience working as a receptionist in a GP surgery or Hillingdon confed
