Atrial Fibrillation Service
What is the Atrial Fibrillation Service?
Atrial fibrillation, or AF, is the most common problem with the heart's rhythm. More than 1.2 million people in the UK have AF. People with AF are 5 times more likely to have a stroke. Strokes caused by AF are often more serious and can lead to more health problems or even death.
The goal of our service is to find the estimated 800 people in Hillingdon with AF who don't know they have it. We do this by working with community pharmacies.
Who is this for?
People over the age of 65 with one or more of the following conditions who haven’t already been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation.
- Coronary heart disease
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Heart failure
- Stroke/TIA
- Peripheral artery disease
How do I get an appointment?
You need to go to one of the pharmacies listed below and request an AF screening test. At the pharmacy they will do a heart test called an ECG. If the results suggest that you may have atrial fibrillation, they will refer you for an appointment with us.
Please visit one of the below pharmacies and request an AF screening.

What do I need to wear?
As you will be having a 12-lead ECG you will need to wear loose clothing.
