What is the Community Paediatric Asthma Clinic?

This clinic is led by a specialist respiratory nurse from the hospital. The aim of the clinic is to educate caregivers empowering them to confidently manage their child’s condition, provide improved quality of care outside of the hospital.

Who Is the service for?

Children aged 2 to 16 who have been prescribed more than 1 blue inhaler in a calendar year.

What's Involved?

The appointment should last approximately 30 minutes, with a specialist respiratory nurse and either a nurse or pharmacist. The specialist nurse will take you through your child’s asthma plan and provide you with information on how to better manage their asthma. They may also change the medication if this would be helpful.

Where?

These clinics will take place at your own GP practice for 6 consecutive weeks. The clinics move around to different GP practices in Hillingdon every 6 weeks.

How can my child get an appointment with the nurse?

Searches are run on your GP practices clinical system and if your child fits the criteria of the clinic, you will be contacted by our service admin team to book your child into the clinic.

Yes please bring all medication or medication list that your child takes to the clinic appointment.
