Mark Byrne
Mark Byrne has served as a Non-Executive Director of the Confederation since 2019. A finance professional by background, he is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices. Prior to this, Mark spent 12 years as Chief Executive of a family office investment vehicle. Earlier in his career, he held senior roles in corporate finance and tax advisory, including as Senior Corporate Finance Director and Head of the R&D Tax Solutions Practice at FTI Consulting LLP UK, and Head of R&D Tax Services at Mazars Ireland. Mark is currently Chair of the Surrey West Health and Care Alliance. He previously served as a Non-Executive Member of the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care Board (ICB), stepping down in June 2025 after seven years in various non-executive roles. He also chairs the Appointments Advisory Committee for Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, a position he has held since 2018. The committee oversees all medical consultant appointments at Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie Hospitals. In addition, Mark is a Non-Executive Member of the Race Advisory Group for Surrey Police and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
