Townfield Doctors Surgery is a friendly, well-established GP practice seeking a Salaried GP to join our supportive and forwardthinking multidisciplinary team. There is potential for future partnership for a suitable candidate.
Job Summary
The post holder will be responsible for managing a personal caseload and addressing a wide range of health needs for registered and temporary patients. The role requires delivery of high-quality, evidencebased clinical care in line with best practice and Practice policies.
Clinical Responsibilities
In accordance with the agreed Practice timetable, the post holder will be expected to undertake a full range of general practice duties, including but not limited to:
- Face-to-face and telephone consultations
- Managing queries and oncall duties
- Reviewing and acting on investigation results
- Conducting home visits
- Processing, checking, and signing repeat prescriptions
- Managing clinical correspondence and paperwork in a timely manner
Additional expectations include:
- Working 4–6 sessions per week
- Willingness to hold a patient list (named GP)
- Making autonomous, professional clinical decisions for patients presenting either directly or via referral
- Comprehensive assessment of patients’ healthcare needs
- To be available to attend internal team meetings as needed
- Identifying disease risk factors and early signs of illness
- Developing and implementing care plans in partnership with patients and in line with agreed Practice disease management protocols
- Providing appropriate health advice, education, and preventative care
- Referring patients to secondary or community services as appropriate
- Maintaining clear, accurate, and timely clinical records in accordance with agreed standards
- Supporting audit and data collection requirements
- Prescribing safely and cost-effectively, in accordance with the Practice formulary and national guidance
The post holder will be expected to perform all normal duties associated with a GP working in primary care.
Other Responsibilities within the Practice
- Adhering to all Practice policies and procedures, including those relating to prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, and health and safety
- Demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning, clinical audit, and evidence-based practice
- Contributing to clinical governance, audit activity, and quality improvement initiatives
- Supporting the development and maintenance of electronic patient records, including Read coding and record summarising
- Attending relevant training days, meetings, and events as required by the Practice or external organisations

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- GMC Registration
- Qualified GP
- Experience in urgent care clinical services
- Experience of virtual clinical consultations
- Ability to plan, co-ordinate and deliver programmes of work on time and to a high standard
- Excellent organisational skills with an attention to detail and an ability to finish tasks completely and to a high standard
- Ability to keep full, accurate and up to date records to a high standard
- Ability to assimilate information quickly and make clear and effective decisions under pressure
- Excellent communication skills, written, verbal and listening – explaining, promoting, listening, learning, to / at all levels of the healthcare system
- Ability to motivate and engender trust and team identity
- In depth user knowledge of EMIS
